Is the MAZDA3 Front-Wheel-Drive?
Some Bloomington drivers have asked us at Sam Leman Mazda, “Is the Mazda3 front-wheel-drive?” It depends on the trim level you choose. The 2022 Mazda3 sedan and hatchback come standard with front-wheel drive, with all-wheel drive in the upper trim levels. However, with Mazda SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY, you may not need it. Learn more about this advanced technology here with Sam Leman Mazda, then contact us to experience it in person.
What is Front-Wheel-Drive?
So, what is front-wheel drive technically? Let’s start by making sure you understand how front-wheel-drive works first. Front-wheel-drive is when the transmission sends power to the front wheels. When a vehicle is front-wheel drive, that means the two front wheels are what is moving your vehicle via power sent from the engine. This means you can get improved traction on slippery Normal roads. FWD vehicles usually get better MPG and emit less carbon dioxide than most other drivetrains.
SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY
Mazda SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY enhances control and performance, as well as fuel efficiency. A new Mazda model equipped with the SKYACTIV® technology offers a smoother and quicker acceleration with more precision on your Springfield drives. Plus, you can take it up a notch with the ultra-responsive Skyactiv®-G 2.5 Turbo engine with up to 250 hp and 320 lb-ft of torque with 93 octane premium unleaded fuel. When paired with i-ACTIV AWD®, you’ll feel more confident wherever you go!
How to Rotate Tires: Front-Wheel Drive
If you drive a FWD Mazda3 model, your tire rotation pattern is slightly different than a vehicle with AWD. Follow these steps to learn how to rotate the tires on a Mazda with FWD:
- Move the front tires to the back, and keep them on the same side of the car as they were before.
- Move the back tires to the front, but switch sides so that the left-back tire moves to the front right spot and the right-back tire moves to the front left spot.
This tire rotation pattern will help even out the wear and tear and make your tires last longer. Your tire rotation pattern may differ, so we suggest you speak with our service center if you need assistance on how to rotate tires on a front-wheel-drive vehicle.
